With Langley leading this year's nominations, Wilson is already joking about what could happen if her fellow country star dominates Music 's biggest night.
A Bedazzled Broom for Country Music 's Biggest Night
During a recent appearance on Amazon Music 's Country Heat Weekly Podcast , Lainey Wilson shared a playful idea involving her friend and fellow CMA nominee Ella Langley.
Wilson, who is returning to host the 60th Annual CMA Awards, was discussing her involvement in the show's creative planning when she revealed that she had already floated a humorous stage idea to Langley.
According to the interview, Wilson wants to bring a bedazzled broom onstage as a playful nod to the possibility of Langley sweeping the night's biggest honors.
Wilson jokingly declared, "She's going to sweep it up," before adding that she could be standing nearby with a sparkling dustpan.
Whether the idea actually makes it into the awards broadcast remains to be seen, but the playful exchange highlights the friendship and mutual support between two of Country Music 's leading artists.
Ella Langley Enters the CMAs With Nine Nominations
The joke has a particularly strong foundation this year. Langley leads the entire 2026 CMA Awards field with nine nominations, including her first nomination for Entertainer of the Year.
Her nominations span several major categories, including:
- Entertainer of the Year
- Female Vocalist of the Year
- Album of the Year for Dandelion
- Single of the Year for both "Choosin' Texas" and "Be Her"
- Song of the Year for both "Choosin' Texas" and "Be Her"
- Musical Event of the Year for "I Can't Love You Anymore" with Morgan Wallen
- Music Video of the Year for "Choosin' Texas"
Lainey Wilson is also a major contender, earning three nominations of her own, including Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Single of the Year for "Somewhere Over Laredo."
Both artists are competing in the Entertainer of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year categories, making Wilson's lighthearted comments even more memorable.
Will Ella Langley Sweep the 2026 CMA Awards?
Langley's success has made her one of the most closely watched artists heading into the ceremony. Her nine nominations reflect a year of significant recognition as a performer, songwriter, and recording artist.
Of course, nominations are no guarantee of victories. The competition includes some of country's biggest established stars, and the winners will be determined by the Country Music Association's voting membership.
Still, Wilson's bedazzled broom idea might turn out to be one of the night's most memorable running jokes.
The 60th Annual CMA Awards will take place Wednesday, November 18, 2026, at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena and air live on ABC and Disney+.
What do you think? Is Ella Langley about to sweep the CMA Awards, or will another artist surprise everyone?
Country Road Entertainment will continue covering the nominees, performances, and biggest stories leading up to the 2026 CMA Awards.
