Is this the Rebirth of
Arizona Honky-Tonks ? Who has the best
Music venue you ask? Well it’s my opinion that anyone that has live
Music has the best venue. Thru a musicians eye there are many venues that come to mind, Good Time Charli’s, Tom Ryan’s, Brookeside II, Stingers, Handlebar J’s, Norton’s Country Corner, Bourbon Jacks, San Tan Flats, Whiskey Row, The Hitching Post, The Roadrunner, Buffalo Chip, Roosters Country, Jolie’s Place, Lion’s Den, Romans Oasis, On The Green, and the list goes on. In fact, there are so many
Music venues anymore it’s hard to follow.
These that I have mentioned are some of the more popular venues that the bigger local country bands have played at. Back in the day there were only a few to mention, most have closed permanently, and the buildings have been demolished. Some thought that this was the possible end of the Arizona
Country Music scene. Rewind back to the late 90’s, early 2000’s, here come the
Country Music dance clubs. Places like Denim and Diamonds, Grahams Central Station, Rockin’ Rodeo, Cheyenne Cattle Company. These became the new era of what used to be the “honky-tonks”. Zero live
Music , meat market, country hip-hop clubs were on the rise and putting the small ‘honky tonks” out of business. Not only were they putting the small bars out of business, but also the local musicians.
Fast forward now to the present, the major hip-hop Country Bars are almost obsolete and the ones that are still open tend to have headliners come to perform from time to time. It is my opinion that we, the people, the Country Music fans are tired of the everyday “radio country music”, sung the same way every time, played the same way, (did I mention every time), and not having a place to sit down, have some food and drinks, and listen to a live band play the covers in their own style. In a new era of Country Music , even though I personally can’t stand some of the new Country Music that is being recorded, I’m glad to see all of the old school “honky-tonks” coming back to life and the day’s of the Arizona country musician is on the rise.
