Nathan Dean & The Damn Band have added a major national honor to their growing résumé.

The Arizona-based group was named Group of the Year — Country at the 2026 Josie Music Awards, held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.

The win puts the longtime independent touring band in the national spotlight after years of building its reputation through relentless live performances, a loyal fanbase and an increasingly visible presence well beyond the Southwest.

A Major Win on a National Stage

The Josie Music Awards recognize independent artists across a wide range of genres and categories. Nathan Dean & The Damn Band entered this year’s awards as one of 12 nominees for Group of the Year — Country, a field that also included Shimmer Road, Michelle Robinson Band, Robert Eskridge & Southern Daze, The Mullins Sisters, The Daniel Jordan Band and others.

The official 2026 Josie Music Awards nominee list shows the band among a field selected from more than 101,000 submissions across the awards program. The group was also nominated for Entertainer of the Year — Duo/Group, while Nathan Dean received an individual nomination for Vocalist of the Year — Country Male.

Ultimately, it was the Group of the Year honor that sent the band home with national hardware.

Built on the Road

For anyone who has followed Nathan Dean & The Damn Band over the years, the recognition reflects a career built heavily around live Music .

The band has developed a reputation for a high-energy, crowd-driven show and an aggressive touring schedule that has taken them far beyond their Arizona home base. According to recent reporting surrounding the Josie win, the group logged more than 100,000 miles on the road over the previous year while continuing to perform across the country.

That road experience has also put the band alongside established country names, including performances opening for artists such as Ned LeDoux and Casey Donahew.

From Arizona to the Grand Ole Opry House

The setting made the moment even bigger.

Accepting a national independent-music award inside Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House placed the band on one of country music’s most recognizable stages.

For an independent act that has spent years earning fans one venue at a time, the award represents something larger than a single trophy. It is recognition that sustained touring, musicianship and live performance can still create national momentum without following a traditional major-label path.

Momentum Continues for Nathan Dean & The Damn Band

The Josie Music Awards victory arrives during an already active period for the group.

Nathan Dean & The Damn Band continue to maintain a busy live schedule while receiving additional recognition within the Arizona Country Music community. The group is also among the artists currently competing for honors at the 2026 Arizona Desert Country Music Association Awards.

The national recognition has now also translated into movement on the CRE Rising 25, where Nathan Dean & The Damn Band make their debut at No. 18 in Week 9.

That placement reflects more than one award. The CRE Rising 25 considers current Music activity, audience growth, streaming and social momentum, touring activity, industry recognition and overall career development.

For Nathan Dean & The Damn Band , the Josie win adds a significant new piece to an already strong live-performance résumé.
